If I....

I first read this poem last year, a group of students asked me to translate a poem for english literature class. And I try my best to make them understand every sentence written. however then i realized, reading poem is not only about to understand it, it also about to feel it.

And this poem in make me feel that I really understand its meaning, and feel its presence, in a way that i can't translate to anyone.

The Road not Taken by Robert Frost.

Two roads diverged in a yellow woods
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveller, long I stood
And look down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth
Then took the other, as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black
Oh, I kept the first for another day
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence
Two roads diverged in a word and I-
I took the one less travelled by
And that has made all the difference.

  1. hehehehehe.....frm 4 english literature syllbus..but not any longer to use...coz next year akan guna buku lain n silibus lain utk short stories n poems form 4......
